Bananas

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm thinking about getting some banana trees. I have one in a pot right now and want to put it in the ground also. So my question is do you leave them in the ground or do pull them out? Thanks for answering Tina

That will depend on the type of banana you have. If you go to any of the swaps this year, I can fix you up with bananas.

Hey Ken....I got one of your banana plants at the Jacksonville RU in the fall. I didn't plant it, kept it potted and under grow lights. It has put out a new leaf.....my question is, since I did that should I plant in early spring or later?

As soon as there is no danger of frost. Bananas like Potash so if you have a fireplace or wood burning stove or know someone who does treat the area with wood ash. They love clay soils, it is nutritious and helps keep them upright through windy conditions. This banana should be 16' to 18' by this Fall. They are big feeders.

Wow that tall by fall I better choose carefully where I plant it. Thanks Ken.
