Tonight we learned that a "friend of a friend' drove his TX Tech flashy red pick-up to a service station off 183 and saw a similar one driven by a lady. They were standing in the parking lot talking about TXTech when a Prius screeches into the lot. A guy and gal jump out with spray paint, and yell something about down with trucks and they are the E.L.F. (environmental group). The red truck guy decks the Prius guy and knocks him out before he can spray the truck! The Prius woman jumps in the car and drives off, but they got her license number and the police arrested her and brought her back to the station for ID. The guy that was knocked out was arrested too. The gas station owner came out and said it wasn't the first time someone had had their truck spray painted by these radicals at the station. Now, being that I like to drive my DH's truck to nurseries in the surrounding area....I don't want to meet these spray painting nuts. Has anyone heard about this? We haven't seen anything on the news.
Austin Pick-Up Truck Drivers
Wow! No way... that could be hazardous to their health in TX.
Even though it is just spray paint, trucks are sacred in TX and trucks and guns are not uncommon.
Those people are crazy.
Well it is just spray paint, but it is "nursery" season.
While I understand the concern for the environment, those people must me nuts to spray paint a pickup while the owner is anywhere around, They're lucky they didn't get shot. Pickups are like a man's kid, don't mess with them!

It may just be spray paint but it will still ruin a paint job. I sincerely hope that with the arrests of these two that the painting will stop but I doubt it. It might take someone getting seriously hurt before people realize that they need to mind their own business about what people drive. I'm glad that your friend of a friend was able to stop the assault on his truck.
Bubbles ~ fix a magnetic sign for the doors of your DHs' pickup. Some "green" slogan for a organic, environmentally and politically correct business.
Those guys are whackos. I had heard of them and went and researched since my post. This is small potatoes compared to some of the things that group does. Do be careful.
I was concerned because there's been no mention of the incidents on the TV news or in the paper. If anyone has heard anything about these vandalism incidents, I'd like to know. I'd be surprised if the guy who got clocked doesn't try to sue the pickup driver for assault....such nerve!
Well, we're going to the lake this morning to see if we have any broken pipes, raccoons in the attic, or skunks under the house. It's always something up there. Only a couple more nice days before the weather changes again. Had unexpected company for a few days. They were driving to Phoenix from IL and weather diverted them thru Dallas to here till it cleared.
Apparently they did not manage to do the damage? If not, you won't see mention of this encounter in the news. The only listing would be under the arrest records if you should know their names as it would be listed as attempted vandalism or something similar. There was mention of an attack by E.L.F. on an execs' home there in Austin due to the nature of his work. They painted on his garage door. That was really meaningful.
Have a good day.
There is something intuitively wrong with a group using spray paint that is concerned about the environment.
banana...love your take on this! I'm going to have to pass it on......
I need my truck to haul around 6,000 bags of leave a year to my compost pile, can you get any greener than that. I also build homes, do these people live in caves. Or do they live in tents, made from PLASTIC. They may be in fora shock if they pick on a country boy like me, who usually carry a gun or two in their trucks. These fools may find themselves in real trouble but not know it until it's to late.
From what I understood, the truck owner was a really big guy and just hit the paint tagger once with one fist to knock him out..... 'Said he had to have broken his jaw. Tagger was still on the ground when the police came back with the other tagger. Guess that would make "Mr. Environmentalist" rethink his war game.
Too much time on their hands..... I just wish the media had publicized it, so we wouldn't be taken by surprise.
I agree with you kenboy. I drive an explorer because when we bought it I was doing homedaycare and had 7 children to drive around. The sad part is that people like that only have tunnel vision with just their view as being the only right one. In these economic times there really aren't to many people who are out there driving around in gas guzzlers just for fun. They need to open their eyes and get a clue. Tina
