What type of ginger is edible? I have the pine cone and the butterfly ginger. Are they edible or should I get some from the grocery store and grow it.

All Gingers are edible but some are better than most. The one you get in the store is a Hedychium, I can't remember the name but I bought mine at the store and now have a good stand of it. Curcuma Longa root is where you get Tumeric. I have heard of people using butterfly blooms in their salad.

The kind I got from the grocery store I thought was zingiber officinale. There are also the 2 galanga gingers, which are alpinia... Here is the link to zingiber and links to the other edibles are in the article, like cardamon, etc...
