We live in the country and our dogs use the whole property for their...toilet. The flies are attracted to the 'gifts' they leave to lay their eggs.

A friend of mine, with sheep and a donkey as well to attract flies, told me he puts about 1/2 a teaspoon of Distomaceous Earth in the feed of all of his animals(more for the larger animals, his dogs are Border Collies)...the larvae of the flies can't exist in the DE in the manure and they die. His fly population is nearly ZERO.

I am curious if anyone here has heard of that?
