Is this a baby great horned owl?

Sarasota, FL

Hi

We are in Sarasota, FL and found this beauty on a log in our yard. We've never seen him before and would love to positive ID.

Thanks,
Eric

Lucky you. I've only gotten images of them in captivity

I agree with Resin - Eastern Screechie. Most of these guys are greyish, but this is a red morph. Gotta love a redhead. And it's an adult screechie - note the vertical streaks on its body. Juvies have horizontal streaks. Screech owls also are colonial, so if you have one in your yard, he has buddies around. And you won't have Horns - they eat Screechies - so schrrechies are careful not to colonize where Horns predate.

And baby Great Horned Owls? They're a foot tall, fuzzy, and they don't have ear tufts yet. I'm attaching a pic of one I had several years ago. Note the ear tufts are just beginning to show.
