Got this question today, any thoughts?
The problem I have and have been having for well over a year now, is
with a Peace Lilly plant.
When the plant was given to us about 4 years ago it was big and
beautiful, even gave flowers a few times.
Ever since my husband transferred it to a larger pot, last year, its
never been the same!
Its dwindled down to two small plants. It will produce new leaves, but
no sooner are they up, then they start whithering, turn black and die
off.
Yet, they keep producing leaves. Help!
Peace Lily Problem
Depending on the soil, you are probably over-watering. You might even dig it up and plant it in a smaller pot with well-draining medium. They are usually very tough and if all conditions are the same as when you first got it, unless there are insect pests that you can find, the only change has been the planting medium. I would suspect over-watering.
I agree, I would divide them into two smaller plants, each in a suitable pot for its size. Then do not water sparingly, water deeply.
what kind of soil did you use? I agree with the others, put in smaller pots and divide them up.
Thanks for the advice, its not mine but I'm trying to solve the problem
