Hydro Drill / Wells

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Has anyone used Hydro Drill for putting in a well? Need input, thanks.....

I looked into it a while back and decided it looked possible but have not tried it - yet. I too would be interested to hear others' experiences.

We're thinking about it as the water table down at the back of our property is high and I think there may be a large aquifer as there is a neighboring well that's been there for many years and used for the grove and now vineyard. New property several houses up our road just put in two wells. Gotta beat our outrageous water bills somehow.

Are you talking about the drill powered version or something more like this...

I don't know how deep your water is, or what you'd be drilling through, but it sure seems to me with the drill powered version if you hit much rock you'd either jam the bit or get tossed across the yard when it snagged. And burn out your drill.

The other would be interesting to research... I don't really know enough about the drilling of wells to even ask intelligent questions. I just hired the local guy with the big rig. =0)

Jay, if you remember my water harvesting research here in Texas, that rig could land you in jail plenty quick. I think just about every state is changing the laws on water wells and “here” they are dead serious about it.

If you wanted to bootleg a well for yourself and were only dealing with sand and a little clay, a water hose with a high-pressure nozzle and an air compressor would work just as well. Slower but much less expensive. Most home wells only use a two-inch casing which is nothing when going through mostly sand. Of course, if you hit rock or gravel you would be down side up in the dingy for sure.

Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the input....
