Apologies if this has been discussed - have not got time to search for it!
I have Carrot Rust Fly in my area and have to cover the seed ( and other root crops like Parsnips etc.) as soon as seeded and leave cover on until harvest in order to have a crop. I have recently just heard about some new varieties that are resistant ( there are several different names) and am wondering just how good they are? I have ordered some seed and will do a test planting this year but I have been trying to find some personal experienc rather than just what the sellers are saying.
Any body here tried it?

Carrot Rust Fly/Resistafly carrots
I would appreciate info on this too.
Also "Gladiator" parsnips are supposed to be less attractive to the carrot rust fly.
Anyone tried them?
The horizontal greenhouse by Vesey's would be a neat thing to cover a carrot patch where the carrot rust fly takes hold. It has net inserts in it. But it is over $100 so rather expensive carrots!

I have a cheap $20 hoizontal greenhouse which I think could be rigged with Remay or netting. It would be neat if the seeds gave plants which resisted the fly.
Well I have given this a few moments thought and realize I have some round plastic garden cloches - about 12 inches across I think and I am going to use them to cover my carrot seed this year instead of Remay. +My carrot patch will be interesting but I wont have to keep releasing the Remay to accomodate the plant height since the cloches are about 12 inches high. And instead of staking the Remay down I can just put some dirt around the edges of the clches.
LeeValley sells them package of 5 for 32.50. Not cheap but I have had these for years. There are hot caps too - square - and cheaper I think but less sturdy - which would serve the same purpose.
