trip to south Texas

Sugar Land, TX

I went back to Alice, TX (south Texas) last Sunday thru Tuesday and managed to get a few bird photos. Then I left there and drove near San Antonio to pick up my new puppy.

This is a Green Jay.

And here's a photo of my new best buddy. He is a Texas Blue Lacy, the State Dog of Texas. They were designed in Texas in the 1860s by crossing a gray hound, a scent dog, and a coyote. They are gaining in popularity as of late. Mine is named Earl....Earl Scruggs.

Oh my, that Green Jay is absolutely gorgeous and I love that Pyrrhuloxia (had to look this one up!).

As for Earl Scruggs, he's adorable and looks like he'll be a wonderful companion. He also looks like he'll be a giant when he grows up. How old is he now? He looks so soft and loveable.

He is about 8 1/2 weeks old. He is adorable but also ALL puppy! :-)

Marlton, NJ

Those birds are beautiful!!! But that puppy is adorable, Earl is a sweety, he's gonna keep you busy, for a few years:))

North Augusta, ON

Great shots!

Beautiful puppy too!
Do I see a saddle type bag in his future for carrying camera gear perhaps?

Sandusky, OH

Great shots Chris!! The G. Jay is so colorful, the Pyrrhuloxia look's like half Cardinal half Parrot.

Melbourne, FL

Never knew there were state dogs, Chris....and never heard of a Blue Lacy, but he is adorable.

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

Looks like Someone was having fun when these two birds were designed! LOL

Sweet looking puppy doggy, too
