Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

WOW!! Another decade has passed since the big scare of Y2K. Remember all the fear pedaling and hyp over that date? Some people made millions off dried survival foods, generators(what were they going to run them on when they ran out of whatever fuel they had stored back for it?), etc.

It is really cold here. -3* in K.C. this morning. I think the local radio had about the same. I went out and coated the rubber seals around the van doors really heavily with a lubricant. as I had been advised to do. We are looking for snow maybe tonight. I don't want them frozen shut again. I'm staying put until Mon. when I go to town to get the money to get the rest of the work done and work a few hours at the store. I'll take an overnight bag in case it doesn't get done in one day & I need to stay with Brenda for the night.

Anyone else out there have really stiff achey joints?  This morning I remembered an old remedy and did it again. Got almost instant relief. Just rub some good oil like castor oil, WD40(fish oil based), cooking oil, etc. onto the joint and massage it in pretty well. I use to do this with good results. I don't know why in the world I stopped. I could have prevented a lot of pain.

I got the 2 small pie pumpkins cooked in the oven and need to finish the canning process. I'm saving seeds tho I know they are probably hybrids and what I will raise may be much different from what I bought at the farmer's market. I'm saving seeds from the buttercup squash too. Those usually aren't hybrids. The poultry and wild birds will get the extra seeds and the one pumpkin that had frozen the worse and didn't smell right to me. In these temps the birds need all the extra energy they can get. I need to sort thru the apples again too and get rid of ones too soft to use. I'll cook another one today and have it for a snack or dessert. I really like them cooked with oatmeal, some Parkey spray seasoned with stevia and apple pie spices, I bake that in the oven. I started stirring the oatmeal into the apples to absorb the juices instead of just spreading it on top. I makes a wonderful dish.

One kitchen counter is pretty well cleared now. Lots more kitchen work to do tho. I just have so much 'stuff' in the kitchen. Lots of appliances that take up cabinet top room and no space down in the cabinets to put them either. Most are too heavy for me to be moving around much anyway. So once I aquire them and get them in place they are there to stay and have to be worked around. Some have to stay on opposite sides of the kitchen so they can be on different electrical circuits even tho there is acutally room for them all on one side. I probably could move the rotissorie to another place tho and may do that in just a bit to see how that works out. It doesn't get used that often so moving it shouldn't cause that much of an inconvenience.

Anna, that thing you gave the link to looks really big. The shaker weight isn't that big and you just hold it in your hands. I think it is advertised mostly on the paid programming channels, Lifetime, TLC & Discovery channels on Dish Network.

Must go and get something done. GOD bless and keep each of you.
