New Recipes for a New Year

Southern, United States

Ok, looking for any good recipes here. I'm tired of cooking the same old stuff, so I'm looking to start off the new year with some new recipes - - any kind for any meal! This is just a place to share some good ones. Please share tried and true ones and even ones you'll be cooking for the first time. I'll start and I hope you join in.

Grand Isle Skillet Shrimp

this is from our local newspaper, I've used it for 15 years or more. So easy, so good!

2 lbs. headless shrimp (about 20 count per lb.)
juice of 1 lemon
worcestershire sauce, to taste
hot pepper sauce, to taste
salt and black pepper, to taste
cayenne pepper, to taste
garlic powder, to taste
3/4 stick light margarine

1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
2. Peel the shrimp back to the last joint, leaving the tails on.
3. Place the shrimp in a black iron skillet, lining them up to make an attractive display (we always nest them spirally).
4. Squeeze the lemon over them, then sprinkle the worcestshire and pepper sauces. Then sprinkle the salt, black and red peppers and garlic powder to taste over the top.
5. Cut the margarine into pats and place around over the shrimp. Cook in the oven for exactly 7 minutes. Do NOT broil. Remove from oven.

*Also if you like a little bit more flavoring you can add a sprinkle of cajun seasoning, just be careful because they tend to be salty and you don't want to add too much.

They recommend serving a loaf of french bread with this to soak up the juices.....it is so worth it. They are delicious! Hope you enjoy!
