Happy New Year to All

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I want to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. If you are driving, please be careful. We are staying at home and welcoming the New Year by watching the 'ball' drop on TV. Too old to party. LOL

Happy New year all you old fogies...and all you young fogies too! I've been on disability since Oct., and recently graduated to partial disability--the only places I go are work(light duty--which is a joke), and the grocery store. Neither is celebrating New Years! Anyhoo--I hope everyone has a great year in 2010 ^_^

HD Noid Phal I bought last summer for $3.99

Well, aren't we a lively bunch! I'm right there with you. We are going out for an early dinner and we'll be home well before midnight. If we're lucky, we'll be awake to see the ball drop too. I wish all of you a very happy, healthy new year.

☼ Happy New Year Everyone!

It's a dreary, rainy day here in central Florida with cold, cold temperatures heading our way tonight! We are supposed to have five consecutive nights of temps in the low to mid 30's. Brrrr! Looks like I will be out with my pile of old blankets covering plants this evening when the rains stop! I wish we had a stock of firewood, I'd definitely be having a fire or two in the fireplace the next few days!

Well, I missed the ball dropping in Times Square on t.v. last night! Seems like we can never stay awake until midnight anymore!

Phoebe: I love that Phal, the coloration is so pretty! I have a few Noids and love them whether they have names or not. I have a gorgeous one that Mrsbonnie gave me when she was here in town visiting family last summer and I can't wait for it to bloom again. It has a white bloom with a soft peach hue ... really stunning, hopefully I will see signs of buds on it again soon!

VA_Wild_Rose: Your Phal is really beautiful, very colorful! It looks a lot like P. 'Balden's Kaleidoscope': http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/79912/ I don't know much about orchids just that I love the blooms. One of my nephews gave me a really nice book on orchids for Christmas and I saw a picture of that one in my new book. I know that many of them look alike and there are many hybrids on the market but your photo sure looks a lot like that one.

I have a couple of orchids in bloom right now but the only Phalaenopsis blooming is a white one. Phalaenopsis amabilis:

Happy New Year everyone! I'm wishing everyone a blessed year.

My idea of partying on New Years is to light sparklers! But I didn't this year, went to bed early as DH had to get up at 5am to go to work. Woke up at 12am to the Civil War! - sure sounded like it outside in the neighborhood and neighboring heighborhoods.

Beautiful orchids! so pretty. Nice of you to share!

I hope everyone had a good fall and holiday season...I had a really bad nine weeks..my cat Pyewacket had chemo, my 20 year old Siamese died, my mother died, my dog was hospitalized with diabetes, and my cat had a urinary blockage. I've been MIA for awhile dealing with all of this, but working through it all took me a minute.

Gardening is therapeutic, and it was nice to have some gessies blooming for me to cheer me up...

I've decided this year will be better than last. It has to be :) Before she died, my mother got me gift certificates from a couple of seed companies, she had written on the card it was because I never would let her pay for the plants I put in her garden and mixed pots, so I did some seed shopping yesterday, that definitely started the new year off with happy thoughts of my mother. She'd like it, I did :)

What a nice gift and what a wonderful way to turn things around! You can grow beautiful things and have happy thoughts of her when you look at those plants :)

Celene, What a nice memory garden you can have.
