Help! We earnestly seek the fruit (with the husk) of sapindus drumondii (Western Soapberry) for a school science project. Though we live in Indiana, we have family still living in N.E. Texas who could do local pick-up for us. OR, we are more than willing to pay postage. We have various seeds in storage which we could gladly trade; also, weeping willow tree saplings if anyone is interested.
Thank you!
Looking for Western Soapberry, please!
I have a whole orchard full of them. Do you just need a few? I have a small bag of them that I picked a month or two ago.
A whole orchard! Wow. Thank you for replying. Ultimately, we would like to experiment with trying to germinate a few seeds and grow them here, to see if they will adapt/survive in our zone 6. But, our current project is studying 'green' saponins (soap-producing plants and such), and so the husks of plants like the Soapberry are the immediate need. From the studies we have done so far, it would not matter if they were old, dried up, wrinkled, etc. The saponins are not effected by age/freshness. You could keep the seeds for neighbors and southern gardeners - it is the husks off the seeds that we really need. Whatever would work the easiest for you. We want enough to 'cook' several batches of soap, enough to test on several items, but whatever you have would be great. A 'small bag' would be great.
Thank you to everyone and anyone who may reply.
