Round- up at my place,
See below about my septic tank and roof.
I hate to put it off till next year but will have to as you can't even stand in the yard and we are expecting more rain this week.
Tarps over roof aren't helping me either when I hear the flaps blow.

Mark your calendars March the 6th 2010
Calendar marked! Won't know til closer to the day if I can come or not.
I'd love to come, but it's just too far to drive! Over 200 miles from Summerville.
X
Almost 400 miles for me. I didn't realize Grantsboro was so far north; for some reason I thought it was in the SE corner of NC.
I'm there!
When it gets closer to the date, should people tell what seeds, plants, etc they can give to trade?
Barb
Yeah, we will start a seed/plant swap forum.
Lavina
Oh my!
Shoe will be there! Yipee! I haven't seen him since I lived in Efland! I'll be there!
yeah belledonna i am just north from you accross the river a little ways.
Lavina
Oh No, Lavina! I can't come that day. Child has a big competition, and I've volunteered to herd children all day. I AM BUMMED! Hmmmm....wonder how I could bribe some male who lives in my house and who has promised to love, honor and cherish me to do that for me? Does this fit into the category of love, honor and cherish???
(On the other hand, not sure he is able to herd kids. Patience level not high--might just lasso them instead and stick them in a corral somewhere and forget about them. And then their parents would find them, days later, little starved stick figures, crying out for grilled cheese). Hmmm......wouldn't make us very popular on the block, would it?

Still yotedog, they wouldn't be lost...and would be very easy to manage...
But you're right, I bet you'd be dropped from several Christmas card lists.
Barb
That is true, Barb. Of course, to GET cards you have to SEND them, which I am no longer organized enough to do, so no loss there!
Lavina--how long is the drive from Raleigh?
2 hours but its a fast 2 hours.
Have you ever been to New Bern?
We are just off 55 s little ways after you go over the bridge in New bern
Lavina
Ok, hoping maybe I can make it for a bit, anyway. Not sure--have to see what the day holds--
well, yotedog, if you are up for it, we can always carpool. got my pickup truck ready to load up plants and go when it's time. you can ride with me.
most of my plants, though, it's too early to divide yet. what's not in a pot now.....but then again, lots of them in pots now! LOL
yotedog, mapquest is saying it's closer to 3 hours than 2. but I've made the trip to New Bern before, and that is just over 2 hours.
I suspect I'd need to go later than you, BonJon, since I have the thing in morning, but I'll keep it in mind, ok?
I'll know by late February what I can bring. I know I have variegated alstroemeria, some daylilies, mexican bird of paradise, century plant and some other plants I can't think of right now - on my second glass of Merlot ;)
Have received very many plants at RUs these last two years, ever since Lavina told me about RUs. Almost all no longer have legible tags nor do I remember what they are.
That's one reason I'll be bringing pretty much only irises. I'll bring some great NOID irises and some labeled ones.
This year for Christmas I asked for markers and gardenmarker pens. I'm prepared! YEAH!
now - mind you, I have over 500 different Tall Bearded irises plus around 50 median bearded irises to chose from! I'll bring along my laptop, with photos of whatever I decide can be loaded into the truck. So far at RUs, that's worked best.
and, yes, Lavina, I'll bring you a black iris
Lavinia...are you ready for me to post this in the RU's at a Glance Forum?
Also, why not post this in the Round Up Forum...others might like to come visit ya'll too! Jo
Bad News
Our septic tank has gotten overrun, we had it pumped out last week and it has not helped cause its a small one. 3 days of rain and its a mess so Hubby said I better wait till next year the 1st week end in March.
We also have 3 leaks in the roof and between the septic tank and the $2200 for the roof Ed said I would have to get a part time job.LOL
The roof will be fixed the 1st week in Feb. the roofer hopes but the septic tank can't be replaced till after March the 15th. They will put in a larger tank and I am afraid to ask how much thats gonna cost.
Sorry Ladies and Shoe,I was so hoping to see you all but the yard is a big mess, not to mention the smell..
I need ((((((((hugs))))))
Lavina
((((((((((((((((((((((Lavina))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) you got 'em girl.
Just as well I guess. most of my stuff will still look dead in march.
You have my sympathy, septic tanks are failing right and left around here no matter how large they are, it is just too wet. The water table is so close to the surface right now. Last week I drove through a rural area in central GA and the peach and pecan orchards were under water. It looked like the trees had been planted in lakes. I too have standing water on my property that just won't dry up.
Selfishly, I'm glad, as I couldn't make it on that date, but I do remember septic tank woes. Nothing good ever happens to a septic tank when it rains. I'm so sorry, Lavina. Tell Ed to fix the roof, ok? Just Kidding...
WEll the guys fixed the roof last week, hate he is not the plumer, septic tank person, Put a new a frame on it.
County inspector says we are gonna have to get a bigger septic tank so more money gone.
Yote watch out for all that snow you are getting today.
Lavina
AWWWWW Sorry that you can't have the RU....but for those that are "itching" for one...why not go to the one near Martinsville, Va....
