World's smallest hybrid triple brug?

Clermont, FL(Zone 9b)

I initially posted this cross on my blog a few days ago, but it has me so excited I thought I would share it with everyone here as well. When the first bloom opened last week I was unsure if it was just an anomaly or if this was going to be the real deal for this seedling. The seedling is from a cross I made between Naughty Nick and Cleopatra.

Here's the first bloom as it was just starting to open -

A second bloom opened over the weekend and it was equally as small. It has several other buds that will open soon and you can tell they are going to be the same size.

The plant itself is medium size, about 3 1/2 feet tall. It is still in a one gallon pot, but it has fully rooted itself into the ground. I'm totally psyched! This seedling is going to perform an important role in my future breeding program.

This is not the first seedling from this cross to bloom. Last month I posted another photo on my blog from the first seedling to bloom. It was much larger and was such a unique bloom that it instantly earned a slot in my watch zone. Here's a picture of it.

Congratulation Fred, looks perfect a lovely sweet petite flower, nice coloring this could be a great candidate for a future Bonsai, as she looks so tiny in the palm of your hand, which would be something new and exciting to add to the Brugworld she must be your Xmas Present.

How beautiful. I love that it's so tiny and the color is gorgeous. Do you have a pic of the plant in full?

I too like the real small blooms. The smallest I have is Tootsie and it is the only one that I dug up and potted, to keep it over the Winter. Good luck with this one.

I'm in love...

I don't have a photo of the plant because it is intertwined with its neighbors. This plant is still in my seedling growing area where several thousand seedlings are growing in rows, pot to pot. Once I see one worth watching, typically I pull it out and move it up to a larger pot. I decided to wait to yank this one because I have already pollinated the blooms. I plan to wait until we have a freeze warning before I pull it out.

I just hope when it does get moved up to a larger pot that it does not show its mother's growth habit!

Thanks everyone!

I also have another mini-double that I'm watching. This one is from a Brenda Delph (SeedSprout) cross involving B4 x (Angel's Flight x Charming). B4 was just a working name she gave a seedling with unknown parentage.

And here's a picture with my hand so you can see how small it is.

I wonder what would happen if you gave it a shot of B-12 ?

bossier city, LA

So pretty!! Shot of B12, too funny. I wish just one of my seedlings would have blooms so petite and beautiful. I have been trying since 2002 but so far all have went to the compost pile.
