How much snow did you get?

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

We didn't do too badly here. stopped snowing about 3 pm. about 4 inches or so, I'd say. How much did you get hit with? Did it interfere with your Christmas shopping?
Martha

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hardly anything - also about four inches.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Five feet, eight inches in Valdez, Alaska, last week!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Got bout an inch...still growling.

North Augusta, ON

not a drop...er...fluff

South Hamilton, MA

South Hamilton, MA

You're too far west, Deb. this storm came up the coast.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I know, I'm not complaining

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

a foot, school has a delayed opening in the morn.

South Hamilton, MA

Many school in NE MA are closed tomorrow. Probably so road clearing can be done.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

a depressing 2" - want more snow

South Hamilton, MA

You can have ours now that it is shoveled. You can X country ski in 2", not as much fun as 10" I admit. However since the snow here was very fluffy, you might sink a bit.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

23", well actually 24" because the ground I was standing on after I shoveled it still had about a 1" sheet of ice that I couldn't break though so my measurement was short by an inch.

I passed 4 cars going to the Train station this am which spun out and were stuck in a 6 foot wall of snow. One of them got stuck right at the entrance to the LI expressway so the cops were there blocking the road, So I had to to go east 3 miles and then west 3 miles so that I could pass the entrance I would have gotten on in, in the first place. On the way back wouldn't luck have it that I passed the same amount of cars spun out on the other side of the road going the opposite way, 8 cars spun out on the highways in all. Some traffic lights are out, so get ready to play Russian roulette, some roads are gone. - period, there is no service road going east on the section of the 495 I was on, (there usually is a two lane there..) Top speed on any side road is 7mph, more than that and you're taking a chance... yep this is winter alright!

Net effect: a 15min drive turns into a 45min drive. Not complaining though, it looks nice and we need the cover, no good for the ground to dry out too much in the winter, takes longer for things to get green again, damages the soil... People have to learn how to use caution driving when conditions are bad it's part of driving, if they don't know it they learn it the hard way. Snow is natural, lack of snow is unnatural at this time of year. ☺

Picture:
- Ronkonkoma train station this am. See the white trucks at the end with the long antennea on the right and the two parked on the left towards the end? Well there's another one parked about 50 feet left of this picture because he couldn't find a parking space near the other three.
- They are Mobile TV trucks! (reporting about how hard it is to go anyplace in this stuff! lol!)

Ohhh, forgot to say... that parking lot I was standing on is a solid sheet of ice about 3" thick.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

About 18" here and some drifting.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I measured 15" but there was a lot of drifting and blowing. Official for my area was 18". Here is a pic of an odd pattern on my garden bench from the wind pushing the snow around.

We didn't get more than 4 inches, but it was light and fluffy and my son had to snowblow the driveway three times, the third time being this afternoon.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

did my driveway today

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Santa, DH needs a snow-blower!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

About 20 inches here. I had to shove the storm door open to get the paper.

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

We got 20 inches on the Cape, which is quite unusual here for December. . . it blew and snowed all Saturday night and most of Sunday, and we even had something called "winter thunder" which was exciting. Couldn't get the front door open either, until I dug down three feet (it drifted) with my shovel.
Today the sun shone and it was really beautiful.
The photo is from my back deck, at 8 am on Sunday morning--and we got lots more all day.

Much the same here.

Yes, Andy--I was surprised to see how many birds braved the blizzard to visit my birdfeeders all day. (Unfortunately I didn't get any good shots of them like yours.)

South Hamilton, MA

Snow stopped at about 2:30 p.m. on Sun. Birdfeeders were busy as we had 10" here north of boston. better than the south shore.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

A dusting and im not complaining!! Most of you south of me got what I usually get, and I got what you usually get. It was a NICE change for my part. LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

We got about a foot. Light fluffy stuff, but it was really cold! The only one who really likes it is Andrew....

Don't worry, Pixie--more snow coming in ME.

North Augusta, ON

We're getting snowed upon now. It was supposed to be 5 and raining but I guess they were wrong. Now we're supposed to be getting 25 cm of white stuff over the next 2 days. Glad I got all of my running around done!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

how much is 25cm? between the extra u's and now the metric system it's like your in another country:)

North Augusta, ON

LOL!!

1 inch = 2.5cm....

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Just a dusting over 6 inches the week before.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I was mistaken about the Chickadee, it's a Junco.
The snow level has diminished dramatically through settling and evaporation, not by melting. Wind chills were around 10 today, too cold for walking the dog. Poor Sarah, her feet were all sensitive when we got home yesterday from road salt. Too cold to play in the snow too with her 'bad' leg.

South Hamilton, MA

Hang in there--temp supposed to rise by the weekend.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Speaking of metric. I19 is in kilometres from the border to Tucson! How funky weird is that! Snowfullness in the desert this morning. I think there is a big push for a white Christmas everywhere this year ^_^

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Global climate change.
