Philodendron climbers or bushes

Are these two Philodendrons climbers or large bushes? Is there a way to tell?

Here is the second one...

I think both of them are more or less 'ramblers' - they will not really form a bush, will either creep or climb.

Okay thanks. In that case I might put them near an large oil palm and see if they grow up it.

The first I don't know. I have one that looks like your second one. It's a slow climber.

Thanks Tropicbreeze.

Hey on another note I was thinking of ordering some australian seeds such as Banksia, Pandorea, Melaleuca, Kunzea, Corymbia. But I notice that many varieties come from NSW, Victoria and the Perth region. Do you think they will grow and bloom in a climate that has no significant cold/cool period? It gets cooler at night but rarely below the 70s or top 60s here.

I tried to grow Callistemon from seed bust non came up. Does anyone have any idea of what media is good for germinating seeds from Oz?

Thanks!

Our only local Banksia here is suited to subequatorial climate - Banksia dentata. Grows in swampy areas in the wet season, completely dry in the dry season.

I believe Pandorea and Kunzea are only from the southern areas and may not like hot/monsoonal.

There are many Melaleuca species here, some gigantic trees, some small bushes growing as well. So you'd have a good choice of ones that would do well in your climate.

We've a lot of Corymbias here as well, Corymbia ptychocarpa would be a good one for you, but there's also others.

Callistemon is mostly southern but some grow a fair way up the east coast and might be suitable. None native here. I have one at my place that never flowers, but some others (same species) up here seem to be able to flower.

Best medium is fine organic sand. Lay the seed down and cover with a light sprinkling of the same. Don't bury too deep.

Hey thats really helpful. You have given me a lot of food for thought and research!
