Is this ready to collect? or do I wait until it starts to open? It seems to be dry, I mashed it a little and it crinkled. Never had a Arist. seed pod so I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep - it's ready to harvest TODAY - otherwise, it will pop and the seeds will fly away.

Aristolochias are often called "Dutchman's Pipe".
I have leaves and seed pods on my mallow that look exactly like that, "dear friend". Sorry I don't seem to have your super ID capabilities.
