This beautiful tree grows in the grounds of one of the colleges attached to the University of Western Australia and is a real traffic stopper.
I wish this tree would grow in my zone 6b. I would take out one of my maple trees and put this one right up front. What a show stopper!!!
It really is breathtaking, isn't it? We have one in our yard, which is about 35 years old and maybe 30' high. It has only had two or three spectacular flowerings in all the time we've been here.

Kell, I absolutely love the Brachychitons. This particular one may go two or three years in a row without flowering and then it literally explodes with colour.
Explodes is right! LOL I had no clue this tree even existed.
