How to ID many Passiflora by stem cuttings

Council Hill, OK

The International Passiflora Society has published in their newsletter an extensive article on how to identify Passiflora by the bumps on their petioles, (stems; some are downright lascivious). I kept waiting for someone with more edification than myself to bring this forward; to no avail, it seems.
If you will send photos of the bumbs below the leaf many of us now will be able to more easily identify the particular plant you have. Bear in mind, this is not ALL of the Passiflora, but it's better than last year's guessing by the shape and color of the flowers. By my count it describes 155 Passiflora by Petiole bumbs. And by all means do send the flower photo too, they gives incentive, and I love incentive.

I may have one for you Thomas if the thing survives....I bought one, but I think the cold may have killed it during shipping....will give it some time and see if any new growth develops....I have several I'm trying to germinate now, so fingers crossed I will have lots of pictures for you to help me identify...I had 9 named varieties and one package that just said 'mixed passies' so this will be fun! LOL

sounds like you need to start building fences. Or trellises.
