Lake Hefner, OKC, today.

Norman, OK

Took the missus up to Hemisphere's in OKC today and bought her Christmas. Since it's right next to Lake Hefner, we took a little trip around the lake after we were through.

I didn't learn a whole lot about birds today, but I did learn that a Duvet cover and some foo-foo pillows cost as much as a bed.

Not pictured is a mature Bald Eagle we saw at close range. Just as I pulled over to take a pic to the closest eagle I've ever seen, 4 crows attack him and run him off. He came back and made a run at some coots that dived underwater while the eagle hovered. But the crows attacked him again and that was the last we saw of him.

Maybe Resin or someone can help me out on this one. There were 3 gulls much larger than the Ring-bills. I'm calling this one a first-year Herring Gull. Look at the size difference.

Nothing to do with birds, but I visited an old friend I haven't seen in years yesterday. She looks sexy as ever, but she was born in 1873, not 1875. Academics can't ever seem to get anything right. I brought her sister and an antique Winchester home with me, since the museum had them in their vault. Said they thought they were reproductions. Not!
