Hey all, I'm Tommy from the WV Homestead, located in Falls Mill, WV. Yes the address on my profile states Ireland, WV, but thats just the mailing address. I have a small place here, and have started working on homesteading. I am looking for a couple or so guys who would be interested. Everything could be a mutual decision between us, and take the homestead in whatever direction it needed to go in. As far as the garden plots, I did not have them done this past Summer, but will be ready for this Spring. I have lots of Poultry, these include Chickens, ducks, guineas, geese, turkeys and have miniature goats. This Summer I am adding (order already placed) 5 breeds of turkeys, pheasants, geese, Peacocks, & chickens. With all the breeds that will be coming & what I already have, will be in excess of 100 breeds of poultry. So far I have been able to sell my farm eggs & pay for the food they require. I have a mobile home on the property, but want it gone and build a farmhouse here. I heat with wood, many times I will cook on the woodstove. I try to cut all utility costs as much as possible. In time I want to be totally off grid. So if anyone is interested in this life, contact me. my regular email is towimer(at)yahoo Very interested in having some different opinions & thoughts around here.

Good luck! and Welcome onboard. =0)
How much land have you got? How long have you been on it?
Where abouts in WV?
pictures help
I have 58 acres here, owned the property almost 12 years now, but only been actually homesteading it about a year. As for where at in WV, the original posts states that already, but for those who could not find it, its Falls Mill, WV.
I would also like to add that it is pickingup members and look forward to many more.
I was wondering what general area of WV. Good luck with your project. How many goats do you have and what are your plans for them? What kind of garden plans to you have for the Spring? We moved this fall so I have to build all new beds too.
uhhh i wish i had that property i so want to live this type of life and away from society i guess in a way be a hermit but i want to do this so bad and i am soooo tired of the city life, i mean i dont have a car, of course u dont need one here in the city of nyc but i mean 5k for rent is crazy makes it to where u cant save or anything hell to even afford food here is a challenge
You might want to check into some small farm, market garden apprentices... hard work, board, small pay but you'll learn how to grow food and make a living at it. Give you the skills to make it, and the network to help find your place in the sun... or mud, depending on the season. Mud season here right now. =0)
