Nutmeg Mannikins are taking over!

Sugar Land, TX

I like the fact that the Nutmeg Mannikins are coming into my feeder everyday but now there are at least 50 of the little guys. They have doubled in number in the last couple of months. They might become an epidemic. :-)

Beautiful. I've seen your photos of these little birds on other threads here. I would be thrilled to see them at my feeder! Nice shot.

Nice shot Chris!

This is a fantastic shot of a bird that I have never heard of before ... I checked further and noticed that the Houston Audubon web site has a request for sightings of this bird. Thanks for giving me a new bird to think about.

That is a cool looking bird. I've seen your other pics, but I've never seen one of these birds in person.

I'll see Burd_Fotos' offer of 25 House Sparrow and raise the bid to 25 HS and 25 House Finches.

I really appreciate the fine offers but I already have too many House Sparrows. :-) I have contacted the Audubon Society here but have not filled out their bird sighting form yet. I very well may have the largest population of the Nutmegs in Texas.

They sure are a colorful bird and it would be exciting to see so many at one time. Glad you contacted the Audubon Society. They should be counted in the Christmas Bird Count for this year so please fill out that form soon.

I'd be glad to trade a variety of my birds for a few of these cuties too!!

They are such cute birds...so happy that you can get those great shots of them so we can see them too!
