Here is a picture of my granddaughter, Amy...stationed on the USS Nimitz...who are in the Persian Gulf somewhere.
The other day a resturant in Texas flew out WITH STEAKS....and cooked them on the flight deck for the Sailors.....I guess it was just for the Air Squadron as they sure couldn't cook for the thousands on the ship.
Anyhow...if anyone knows which Grill Master did this wonderful thing I would like to know so I could thank him for his gift...and moral builder.
PS...Amy is in the foreground...and is "ezlivin" on DG....no longer a subscriber, but still a member.
Jo
Thank you somone in TEXAS!!
Jo,
I sure wished that I knew but whoever it was thank them for me too. My dh retires from the Air Force in February so I am always happy to see someone actually support the troops instead of just giving lip service. Tina
Jo, I did a little googling and discovered that a non-profit group, Steak Mission Team, based in the Dallas area was responsible for the big steak dinner, and they DID feed everyone on the ship. Now that's really something! I know "everything is bigger in Texas," lol, but that was over a ton of steak to transport, grill, and serve. It looks like there will be lots of photos from the Nimitz posted soon.

You are very welcome, Jo. I'm glad I had a chance to meet and visit with you in College Station at the all-state Texas RU. That was a few years ago! Tell your beautiful DGD that we very much appreciate her service to our great country and are praying for her safe return from harm's way. We have quite a few career military men among our family members and close friends, so we know what dedication and sacrifice is required.
