Hello again farmers. Today the vegie garden cleanup continues. Yesterday we had a storm blow through and even got about .3 inch of rain, not much but out here every little bit may make the pastures grow. So far we haven't had enough rain to turn them green again, and that may not happen until spring. We have a streak of reed canary grass growing in our large pasture where the soil is damp. It will grow until frost kills it back. That is the only green in the pasture and is currently feeding 4 horses. The endurance horses are on hay year around, the mules in the corral are getting hay, and the old mare Cookie gets beet pulp and grain soaked in water to make it soft for her old teeth and she also gets hay, eats some, spits out wads of chewed hay and walks on the rest. I recycle it over the fence to others who clean it up pretty well. I'd better get out and start the garden work, showers are forecast. I am like a chicken, hate getting wet. Have a good day everyone, count your blessings.
