12/11/09 Today I drove 190 miles round trip to rescue a purebred 10 year old Sable Burmese female from a kill shelter in southeast Ohio. Her owner died and the daughter dumped the poor cat off at the shelter. I really hadn't planned on adding to my crew and I am not sure yet how they are going to accept her but I couldn't let her die either when I got the email from my rescue group notifying members. The shelter said they had 75 inquiries about the cat but I was the only one from Ohio. I don't know how they thought they would get her out by tonight when they were in Washington, Utah, Oregon, etc. The poor thing is scared and subdued. Someone's dear pet for 10 years and then dumped. Sad. If I decide not to keep her, I am sure someone will be glad to have her. Her name is Sabri.
I think I will do what I can in the Rescue Railroad when they need someone. Cats only.
12/12/09 I don't really have a place to quarantine her away from my own cats so I guess I will just have to pray that she is healthy. They tested her and gave her all her shots at the shelter and she had been an indoor cat. I shut her in a bathroom for an hour or so when we got home and she jumped up on the dryer & fell asleep in the laundry basket. I found one of my other cats sitting and staring at her later. Then she disappeared. I know she is here in house somewhere. Just don't know where. I assume she will come out when she needs the litterbox or to eat.
