If anyone is interested in learning about bee keeping, there are free classes starting in January in San Marcos. I can post the particulars.
Free bee-keeping classes in San Marcos
I would be immensely interested but not feasible for a San Marcos vacation right now. I am glad to hear there are sponsors for this. This area is severely lacking bees for pollination. We have northern beekeepers move down each winter but head north with them by the time pollination of crops is necessary. We have a friend that raises produce and large crops of melons. This past year was an almost total failure due to lack of pollination. He was considering setting up hives. I would be interested for the honey ~ yum!
I too would like to learn. We eat lots of honey. But as podster says, it is a bit out of the way. Thanks for posting, I hope lots of people take advantage of the classes.
Why don't you go ahead and post the info?
If I remember right, these folks do this every year, so I think they must have the curriculum down. Rather than a bunch of people from another part of the state individually trekking to San Marcos, a possibility might be a group of folks pitching in to cover travel expenses for them to come to you.
