I looked out the window and what I thought was a squirrel attaching a suet feeder was a Hawk, which surprised me.. i didn't have my camera. Then, it flew deeper into the bushes with a tremendous thrashing of wings. By the time I got my camera, it was gone.
About 5 minutes later I look up and see this. I don't know for a fact that it is the same hawk, but I did get a couple pics before it disappeared behind the tree-line.
It was overcast and the pics are silhouettes. I wasn't able to discern the ventral coloration. Can anyone look and suggest what kind of hawk it may be?

CLOSED: Can this hawk be ID'd
I love that effect you've been doing with the zooms right in the picture! What software are you using for that?
That's a turkey vulture.
Agree Turkey Vulture, ditto to the zoom effect!
Turkey Vulture, huh. Boy was I wrong with hawk.
It's easy to zoom within the photo. The software program I am using is MGI PhotoSuite for Windows 95 (even though I use it on Windows XP). But I think the program called "Paint", that comes with Windows, will do it, too. I'll have to try it and let you all know.
I just put the card (from the camera) into a card reader and insert into the USB port on front of my computer. Within a few seconds something opens that offers me several options. I always pick the option that says "Open images in File Folder" - or something to that effect.
Once the folder opens, I just double click on a photo and it is opened with MGI PhotoSuite. I then minimize it down until I can see the whole thing.
Last thing I do is draw a square around what I want to enlarge, click inside the square and then drag the corners of the square (now a dashed-line square) outward. I then save the new creation.

I have an old Photosuite program I use all the time. I like it, even though it has a few bugs. I was hoping to get a newer version, but I don't think it is made anymore.
