this is the time of year i think i'll have the most success. i have the red one. lmk what you want in trade. thanks. barb
wanted alstroemeria
mama, are you still looking for alstro? I have a few different kinds and even have 1 with variegated leaves. I get red, pink orange and yellow flowers.
They are in there own area and multiply well. The cold that we have had over the past couple of weeks has killed off alot of the new growth but there seems to be plenty more. I will have to wait until they flower in order to tell what is what but would be happy to send some.
chris
well chris i would like your plants but i only want plants now or in the late fall. could we do it in the fall? and how big of a piece of each could you send?
do i have anything you like? i am pretty lazy about digging for trades this year. has just seemed easier to buy what i want.
thanks for getting in touch.
I went out and took pics but my computor doesnt feel like finding my printer, so I will have to wait for the computor guy to post pics.
It will be warmer this coming week. I will dig a chunk out of the basic 3 sections that should be the different colors but I cant guarantee unless they are in flower. The soil and roots of each clump would fit each in their own baggie, left open for air.
I think that they would survive to you. Any suggestions? I havent looked at what you have to trade, I just know how long it took me to get the different varieties of the alstromeria that I wanted and dont mind sharing. They have been growing where they are for about 3 years.
Cape Fuchsia 'sunshine'
Hummingbird plant, Dicliptera suberecta
I understand totally about being lazy about digging for trades. I actually try to not to trade that much because I am the same way.
When I saw your post about the alstromeria though, It all came back to me about how bad I wanted them and needed every different kind I could get.
I will send you the alstro either way, but if you decide to get in a digging mood I would be interested in the 2 plants named above.
i think i lost the cape fuchsia this past summer. i don't water a thing. it either makes it or it doesn't. my garden is "the garden that texas can't kill" so the most i like to do is plant at optimum time just to see what will live here. i hope at some point i get some kind of design idea but right now it's just a wild array of stuff. lol.
the dicliptera does real good here and i know i'll have it. well let me qualify......we got really cold this year and i haven't had it thru a winter like that. if it did make it i'll have it to share. you'll love this plant. blooms in the heat. when this plant grows it grows out more than up. so it will look good trailing over a wall. the plant kind of rays out all around if that makes sense.
do you like mums? i'm going to have some nice ones. if you like them google faribault mums and look at their wholesale mums. i am doing a mum co-op and will be getting close to 30 different ones and would be happy to send you some after i grew them out a little. the ones i'm getting will be plugs but will grow pretty quick when it gets warmer.
alstros don't need a lot of water do they?
Hi Barb,
I was going to send you some Alstroemeria 'Orange King' this past fall but forgot until I saw this post. Do you still want it? I could send it now. I can send you quite a bit, then maybe you'll have enough that at least some of it should make it for you. It's dormant now so should work well. If you are interested, do you have a blooming size fan or two of either Electric Blue or Grandfather Time, or some other daylily that isn't on your list? Daylilies are the only plant I'm adding these days.
Thanks,
Joy
yeah i want it joy. let me see what i have. electric blue is out as there was a mix up on that dl. i bought it with another dger but when it bloomed it was wrong. got another one from the seller but i had so much to do i missed the bloom last year. plus it didn't increase last year. i went out and looked at grandfather time. it's dormant right now but i think that one has done well. i have to google to remember what it looks like.
Barb,
You can wait until March to send mine. That should be enough time to see if you have enough Grandfather time or not. If you end up not having enough of that one, I like Spideries, UF's, and old fashioned, large blooms with no eyes. I'll get it off to you this week. Raining today or I'd go out and dig for you now.
Joy
whatever is good for you. now is sure the right time for me. now joy i doubt i do forget but if i do please feel free to resurrect this thread in march. lol.
edited to add THANK YOU.
