Here is my first Hibiscus bloom ever. This is Cajun Tropical "Heat Flash". I got a small plant in mid summer and kept it inside for weeks and then put it outside for a day in what I thought was a protected spot but ended up frying much of the beautiful foliage. I think it may have bloomed earlier except for that major setback. It has been a house plant since and only went outside for a quick photo today.
First Bloom
Angele, that is a stunning bloom. Know you are proud of it & I'm glad it survived. They can look pretty bad & make a comeback. Thanks for sharing with us.

Thank you! I'm happy I didn't kill her or her sister (Tropical Orange) but they sure got a bad sunburn. There is a bud on the orange but if it takes as long as this one it will be weeks before it opens.
I know it can seem like forever before some of them open. Really seems longer if it is something that you have no idea what it is until it blooms. Bought one off the hospital racks at Lowe's....you know the ones at the back that have been marked down several times. Had a bud that took forever to open. Turned out to be something worth waiting for.
Sure was a long wait though. So hang in there & please share your bloom with us when it
opens.

Very nice picture, I love the bloom and blue sky in the background. =)
What a beautiful calendar photo you got there, that's how beautiful I find the photo to be in my opinion, the hib is gorgeous indeed Angele, hope you get lots more you can share with use, thanks for posting it.

Thanks a bunch for the nice comments. I know my husband appreciates pretty things though he rarely says anything about them but this flower (not the photo, the actual flower) brought out several comments and questions from him.. a real stamp of approval.
It took two weeks but Cajun Orange opened today. The flower seemed a little bigger than Heat Flash.
Not really any orange on this - inner most color is a deep, deep red, then a dusky purple shade and outer most a beautiful buttery yellow. Being new to hibiscus I'm not sure if this might be something else or just a winter shade??
The red on this is actually deeper than the camera picked up.. I'd call it burgandy
Angele, that is a stunning bloom & a great pix too. Thanks for sharing with us.

Gorgeous bloom Angele..
Might be Swamp Music
Ding, Ding, Ding!!! I think we have a winner!!!! Thanks paczona!
Well Angele, that sure is a different from the photo I found of Cajun Orange Delight, funny if it happen to be a spot of the original it and the cut it off the plant without knowing and sold it to you. If it stays blooming that way it would mean you got a new plant that hasn't been sold to the public yet, lucky you because it sure is gorgeous. If not, its just maybe the winter shades its in now, ether case still is gorgeous.
BTW, going to have to get me one of this beauties for my collection indeed.

Photo I found on Amazon
Hey Jon, do you have a photo of Swamp Music, and does it do the same thing as Angele's hib does, I mien, does it changes color the second day its opened.
Wilfred
I bought Heat Flash and "Cajun Orange Delight" this summer from one of our Co-ops here at DG. Swamp Music wasn't on the list of available plants but there is a photo of it on the Vendor's website. Funny how things work out because I never would have bought Swamp Music or whatever it is that I ended up with but now that it is blooming in my home I think it is exquisite!!
Regarding the photo I posted yesterday: the colors were a bit washed out by the bright sunshine but still have intensified as the evening wore on and into today.
Angele, that is another stunning bloom. My wish list grows & grows & grows. At least I'm not alone. Thanks for sharing your beauty with us.
