I have a pretty nice Hs with about 1/3 dropping off this summer. I would like to restore its former beauty. Living in the Seattle area, we have low sun angles and are pretty darn cloudy most of the time. The plant sits in a western window with the burned section facing out (hoping to simulation growth). The window is in the master bath, and the plants get good humidity there.
I could move this plant under lights for the winter and wonder if that would be better for it. But it would not get the humidity it does now.
Hatoria salicornioides probably over sunned restoration
I do not know much about this plant, but I do not think putting the sun damaged part towards the light will repair the damage. Once damaged it is damaged. Did you remove the damaged part of the plant?
Sandy
The damaged joints, phylloclades? dropped off by themself. There is just a whole in the plant. Against the double pain window is pretty cold, where the lights are warmer, maybe stimulating growth.
I do not know the needs of this plant but as it is a member of the cactus or more likely the succulents then it would be happier with the warmth. You could turn the hole area towards the light at see what happens, just not to close.
Anyone know how much light these need.
I think these are moderate to low light plants and warmth would be great with some new florescent lights for it.
