Camellia-hardiness

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

Greetings, just got off the phone with my sister ..with question of camellia. She has a R.L. H..( thought I would remember name, so didn't write it down..Sigh!!!!)
.camellia ,which is hardy to zone 7..She was hoping to push the zone for her #6 zone, but was afraid to lose it to sudden freezes and drying wind in PA.
As she and DH are in Houston with new grandkids..she brought it with..( when any of my sisters' travel it is with plants, or shovels etc,,,,) Anyway..the question is about the heat hardiness for it to be planted in Houston-zone 9. My sister described it as a humid area, but would appreciate some imput . Since I live in zone 4/5, and it is Freezing!!!! I told her that I would ask folk who know camellias personally.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks Marcia ..chatty after 1 too many cups of coffee.

Hi Marcia,

I have camellias here in the yard and they do just great. I have some blooming right now. Camellias should do just fine in Houston.

Thanks Pam, I will let her know. It will make a lovely addition to son and DILs' home.
