Since I am a new Plumeria/Frangipani plant grower, can someone please explain to me what to expect next spring to the summer month of 2010?

Thank you!!

Since I am advised to repot my Plumeria rubra plant, can someone inform me of a good growing compost to use as I do this? I've got a bigger pot to plant it in, I'm just unsure of the correct type of planting medium to use. Do I add Bone meal/composted Manure/small chunks of gravel/Sand/& ect. of any sort? Have been using just plain soil with zero fertilizers added. Should I use the same?

Let me know please~!!

hi barry and welcome to the wonderful world of plumeria! : ) take a look through the frequently asked questions about plumerias http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/599185/. you'll find tons of info regarding plumeria culture. btw, are you keeping your plumeria in a heated room this winter?

tucsonplumeria,
Hello there & good morning! Yes I have my plumeria inside since its way too cold outside right now. How is the weather down in Tucson, AR? Nice I bet.

we get cold here in tucson during the winter. however, the saving grace is that our daytime temps can warm up. all of my plumies are still outside under a shade cover. i might take the shade cover off today. i probably should move the plumies under the covered patio since we have a good chance of rain for monday and tuesday of next week. the only thing is then they will not get direct sunlight, which i think they benefit from during the day given that the nights get cold. i am trying to get them to go dormant on their own but they refuse to drop their leaves. i might just keep them outside...

stay warm up north!

During the winter months, do I water my plant less frequently? I read somewere that states that your suppose to withold water until the remaining leaves fall off. Is this true? What if you don't do this?

Let me know please....

what season would you say that your plumie is experiencing in its room right now?

Larsen, WI(Zone 5a)

comfortable home temperature in the low 60's.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

60 is NOT comfortable!!!!! *LOL*

perhaps, let the soil almost dry out between watering.

Thank you!! I've witheld water for atleast a week now. Is it good to have all the leaves drop off the plant?

there is nothing you can do about it if they drop because it goes dormant. at that point i would stop watering.

I've got my new seeds wrapped in wet paper towel to see if any of them start to bulge or expand so that I can transfer them into small seed flats. Wish me luck!!

Good day tucsonplumeriaz,
Iv'e got a question about the Inflo on my Plumie that looks as though its turning a yellowish color. Is this normal or do I need to give it more light or ?....

Please let me know,

it's possible that i might be aborting due to less than idea conditions for blooming. that will happen during the winter even when they are kept warm and giving some light. they usually need to have some type of artificial light or direct sunlight to hold on to the inflo.

Is this a first inflo on a seedling? sometimes they will abort - look forward to blooms next season on more than one tip though!

Ok, Thanks Dutchlady1~!! My Plumie gets lots of sun since its sitting in front of a S. facing sliding glass door. I'll hope for the best though....

Since I have a problem with Spider mites that have gathered on my Plumies leaves that have not dropped yet, can I possibly cut the leaves off to decrease this spider mite problem? I've tried using a household insect killer, but it seems useless.

Unless doing this would cause harm to the plant.

Let me know please....
