bocabob is right there in Florida. Is the cost still prohibitive?

bocabob has responded to me...but i have now found some locally =)

Angie: Careful, as not all coir is alike. I'm thinking about ordering my perlite from down in south FL, it has gone up to $21 for a 4 cu ft bag of the stuff up here where I am. I'm using a 70% coconut coir/30% perlite mix in my EBs and other HEBs from this point on and believe me, the perlite is getting expensive.

everything is expensive....

Well if it's getting too cost prohibitive I'm gonna start cutting my EB coir with homemade compost. Mine drains really fast and shouldn't interfere with the EB mechanism. Pray 4 my success. I'm losing time on my Cole crops this season. Too hot here and today a BIG freeze with snow flurries as we speak. Can't sow cause its top hot. Can't sow cause its top wet and freezing. Shoot!

i'm mainly gonna try using the coir for starting some veg. seed indoors...

angie, have fun with the coir. we all did at some point =).
