. . . . . . . looks like a blue phase snow goose. Snug

Sandusky, OH

Not for sure do to the picture being so small, but could be a Snow Goose (blue morph) or can be called a Blue Goose.

Huffman, TX(Zone 9a)

Its just a little bigger than the mallards I was surprised to find out it was a goose. The big snow geese fill the pastures around here during the winter this is the first one of these I have ever seen.

It was a bird santuary out front today with a crane in the background and a pelican splashing around after fish and mallards swimming by.

That's a nice backyard to have Rucky, with the wooded backdrop also, should have plenty of bird action.

Huffman, TX(Zone 9a)

Thank You Burd Yes we do and we spend a lot of money on bird seed. We also have deer, alligators and river otters. The cranes are here year round all different types. I am looking for a book to help me identify the different ones would you recomend one?

Could this be a Blue Ross's Goose?

Sandusky, OH

Blue Morph of Ross's Goose is quite rare, but the Ross's and Snow Geese sometimes hybridize producing intermediates. Ross's is smaller and has much shorter bill. The 2 can be found together but the Snow Goose always out numbers the Ross's. (Quoted from field guide). Nice shot Linth!

Linthicum, what a beautiful shot
