herb coop

Fremont, OH(Zone 5b)

Do they ever have a coop for herbs?
If they did I would certainly be interested!

(Zone 7a)

I seem to recall that an herb coop for plants was attempted, but nothing came of it - not enough interest, if my memory is working.

But this time of year, I wonder how an herb coop for seeds would do? I'd like to see all kinds of herbs - culinary, ornamental - but most of all medicinal about which I have a lot to learn. A coop like this could be an opportunity to learn, as well as to aquire seeds, imho.

I'm trying to build up my herbs, especially my perennials. And of course the culinary..I agree I'm wanting to learn a lot more about them.I would like to make herbal tinctures, salves, teas etc.
There are so many areas that I'm interested in.

When I ordered from HPS for last year's pepper seed co-op, I noticed they had a lot of lovely herb varieties. I did order some bulk packets of basils and others, but I decided I wasn't up to doing a second seed co-op at the time (I did sell a few packets inexpensively on the DG Marketplace).

:-)

Fremont, OH(Zone 5b)

with all the questioning going on about coops right now,I don't know if it will ever happen.
Not to sound dumb, but what is HPS?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

HPS site: http://www.hpsseed.com/

I also found some neat basils etc. at Hazzard's Wholesale Seeds, good customer service also: http://www.hazzardsgreenhouse.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=Hazwho

So, does that mean you might be in the mood now, Jill?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'm not sure I'll be able to step up for a seed co-op this year, as new babies tend to take up all available time. LOL

Hazzard's is where I got the 'Blue Spice' basil seeds and a couple others last year. It might be a good source if somebody wants to host a group purchase and split up bulk packets of seed. A word to the wise, from somebody who about went cross-eyed counting out pepper seeds last year... keep it small! LOL

If anyone decides to do this i would be interested.I was thinking about

Richters looks great - did you see whether or not they ship to the US? They have a lot of good stuff...

Seeds and non-plant items: $6 handling applies to all orders to Canada or the United States; $10 handling applies to all orders to other countries. There are no additional shipping charges on seeds except on seed orders weighing 1kg or more. Shipping on rootstock, dried herbs, extracts, gardening supplies, books, etc. is extra. See the shipping chart for details.

Some U.S. orders may be delayed a few weeks to consolidate orders for delivery to the UPS depot in Buffalo, NY.

So, have you ever run a co-op before, lol?

Fremont, OH(Zone 5b)

I would order, depending on what was made available.

Dexter, ME

No I have not.I dont mind ordering somethings if there is a interest and divide them up if we can agree i dont have a problem with that cause i am ordering from them soon anyways.
If we can find out what people are interested in and get a count and do plugs that might be best way to go.

Dexter, ME

Lets mind out what each of you are interested in.

Fremont, OH(Zone 5b)

they only have a limited amount available as plugs.

Dexter, ME

$1.80 per pot. Or try our plug packs and plug trays, priced as low as 33 cents a plant. There are 12 plugs per pack and 120 plugs per tray.

(Sheryl) Gainesboro, TN(Zone 6b)

LOL - okay, I'm going to stop teasing you! Honestly, doing a co-op has turned into a big deal where you have to apply to the co-op committee, be approved, etc. etc. etc. - unless you're kinda familiar with it, it looks like a lot of work.

If you wanted to do a small-scale group buy, that might be the way to go. For a full-blown co-op, with a lot of people, we might want to go the co-op forum route.

I'm doing the spreadsheet for a co-op right now and it ain't pretty, lemme tell ya!

Dexter, ME

I cant do a coop,I meant if a few people wanted to go in i could do that.if someone decides to run one i will defently order lol

Fremont, OH(Zone 5b)

I would order too.
I can't do a co-op but maybe an interest thread could be put up.

(Sheryl) Gainesboro, TN(Zone 6b)

Ooo - you'll find that the person who puts the interest thread up tends to get corralled a lot!

Dexter, ME

Hi if anyone is interested at all I am going to place a Richters order the end of feb, first of march for a april del. if anyone is interested in anything and we can agree I can put the order in with mine and we go in half.I am still going to order
