Two weeks ago Friday I was on my way to work - not feeling very well, but soldering in anyway. Not too far down the road I saw a dead cat in the road and pulled my car over to pick it up and put it on the side of the road. I am so tired of seeing mushed pets when no one stops to get them to the side of the road.
When I checked the traffic to get out of my car - the cat lifted its head. OMG - it is alive! I got to it and a car stopped to block traffic so I could pick it up. There was blood on its mouth but that was all I could see and it didn't move a muscle when I carried it to the car. A wonderful woman stopped and she rode in the back seat holding the cat while guiding me to the nearest animal hospital. The weren't open for business, but the door was open so I went in and said that I have an emergency and they came to the car and got the cat. We left our names and phone numbers and I took the woman back to her car and we went to work.
I talked to the vet twice and animal control called me the next day. She (the cat) had bruised lungs, a damaged eye and a broken tooth - but she would be fine. If she hadn't gotten to the vet so quickly - she would have died of shock. I went to animal control last Saturday and took her picture and made a couple of posters and put them up near where I found her. She is also on PetFinders and the group that works with Trumbull Animal Control guaranteed me that she is in no risk. They will keep her until she is found or finds a new home. (Trumbull Animal Control is where Wallingford was before he adopted me.) So I am very grateful this Thanksgiving for being given the opportunity to rescue one of Gods creatures, and that, for once, acting on impulse did not get me in trouble. :)
Here is "Lucky" the young Maine Coon mix girl kitty.
I am thankful that I stopped the car
