Brug Question Re-post

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a rooted Brug cutting that looks healthy. I have it in a pot in my living room by a large window and side table with a lamp the leaves are starting to wilt from the tip then fall off. Is this normal due to the on set of winter. I have only watered it once since I got it. The soil is most. If something is wrong I want to try to correct before it is lost.

Thanks
Lori

That cutting is in trouble. You said in your other post that you had only watered it once but that the sol was still moist.I'm guessing waterlogged soil if it has been some time since it was watered. If it were mine,I would take it out of the pot and wash all the soil off the roots.Repot in another pot that had soil with good drainage.Add some perlite, sand or small gravel,NOT vermiculite,to the potting soil.I use 1/3 perlite to 2/3 potting soil.Take off the bad leaves and hope for the best.It might be best to start with a new cutting idf you have that option.
About the vermiculite comment;vermiculite holds water. That's just what you don't want here.

I would go along with JT but would add, when you repot, water with 1 tablespoon of Hydrogen Peroxide per cup of water. A little extra Oxygen never hurts.

It was about a 4-5 days ago that I watered it. It has a drain hole in the bottom of the pot. Also I was wondering if it could be the potting soil. It is organic and is very rich and almost dark brown water comes out once watered. It has only been about 2 weeks since it came to me in the mail. I only did not water it again because it has been cool and the soil feels most to the touch. did not want to over water. It has been cool here lows in the 40 and highs in the 60 we have not yet turned on the heat.

I checked the soil and it shows about a 5 on my moisture meter. I am so new at this and want so badly to have beautiful brugs like all of yours. I may have gone about buying my cutting all wrong.

That soil looks like it may have a lot of peat moss in it... Can't be sure from the picture. I would use a dufferent potting mix, like Miracle grow, and do what JT & kenboy say about the additions. You can't go wrong with their advice!

I have used that soil for plants but it is NOT good for Brugs. repot it, and take off every leaf that is damaged, and clean the roots, water it but do not soak it. It will soon establish itself, and get better.
