Harper my 20 month old Great Dane seemed to have a broken toenail a few weeks back. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until this weekend when she began to limp. By Sunday her toe was swelled to triple it's size. I was thinking an infection....after a trip to the vet and 85$ in antibiotics we are watching her for Squamous cell carcinoma. I was shocked when the vet told me. He wants to try and see if it is just an infection but after doing a lot of research on it I am really worried. He was talking amputation if the swelling doesn't go away for a biopsy.
Just wondering if anyone knows about or experienced anything like this.
Anyone have experience with Squamous cell carcinoma?
