Do your Nerines multiply?

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

I planted some Nerines a few years ago for fall color. They flower beautifully as predicted each fall. Unlike most of my other bulbs, they have not multiplied at all over the years. I started out with 5 in this patch, and it has gone down to 4, so they just come back, but do not increase in numbers. I have them growing in three locations in my yard, and they all behave about the same. What kinds of experience have you had with these bulbs? I have the darker pinks as shown here, and lighter pinks. What I would really love is a huge patch of these.

I have not had any of mine multiply and some never returned.

Well now that I am thinking about it none showed up this year so I am not so lucky.

they grow very well in my area, but maybe my clay soil is too much. I amended it, but perhaps not enough. I would give them another try as they are beautiful.

Yep I probably have the same issues with the clay and I should give them another try too.

I guess I am not alone in this. Good to know that it is partly the nature of the plant, and not just my not doing something right. My soil is not clayey, so there are other factors involved. So, for a large patch to happen, I am going to have to buy about 20 more of these. loL

They multiply like weeds for me, perhaps the zone info is not correct (won't be the first time) I am zone 7 verging on 6 due to a bad micro climate and elevation, although they also did great when I was in a lower spot in clay and silt loam, now they are in sandy loam. Now they are irrigated all summer (not much) in clay and silt loam they were just mulched. So I think it is temperature.

I guess I am going to have to try again. Maybe have talk with them and let them know that they are supposed to multiply like weeds :o)
