I'm looking for a plant or bulb or seed of this Amorophophallus Paeoniifolius -- Whitespot giant arum, stink lily, A. pranii it has been called by all these names and it blooms white. Here is what it suppose to look like. Does anyone know of a place where it is sold or traded ? I really want to find one.
Whitespot giant arum
That's not Amorphophallus paeoniifolius, it definitely looks like Amorphophallus pranii. I have the A pranii but it's still a small plant and not flowering size yet.
When I did the search for A. Paeonii. it came back with this flower and the name whitespot giant arum, so I did a search with that and got the name of A. Pranii. BUT I want one. Do you know where any are I might be able to buy or trade for? Does anyone sell them?
I tried a google search and came up with a lot of inaccurate entries. What you're looking for is Amorphophallus pranii. Common names aren't very reliable. You'll need someone from the USA to advise sources for it.
I'm new to a computer and this garden site do you know any links that I could ask for help to find them? I guess this is a lot of dumb questions for you but I don't have a clue how to find that information if you could help.
I'll do a bit of searching on the internet and see what I can come up with. Meantime, someone here might come up with an answer as well.
Mine I got by accident. I was after some other Amorphophallus and the place I went to didn't have any available. But they did have A. pranii so I got it instead. I still want to get the other ones but don't know where. Maybe one day.
It's listed with this seller:
www.plantdelights.com/Catalog/Current/page7.html
I was about to say that PDN (Plant Delights Nursery) is the one place that might have it if anyone has it.
Check eBay as well - you never know what you might find here.

Tropicbreeze, which one are you still looking for, if you don't mind me asking? I may be able to help you find it. I have found several different ones if you are interested. Thanks for the info. They are sold out but I sent an e-mail to see if I can reserve one when it is available.
hcmcdole, thanks for your help also. I appreciate all your help. BUT if anyone else has one to sell or trade please let me know.
Thanks Mekos, but I don't think a page on DG is long enough to write my list out on, LOL.
I know what you mean! LOL
I got the d-mail. I'm looking. Thanks.
Hey you guys, look up this name.
Hydnora Africana
WOW. Looks so weird. It is an Amorphophallus also.
I checked it out, definitely a weird one. But not an Amorphophallus, not even an aroid. It still uses unpleasant (to humans) smells to attract pollinators. In this case dung beetles. It's a parasite on plant roots.
Definitely a weird one. I fell instantly in love, but due to it being a parasite, probably very difficult to grow in captivity. Anybody growing it at Daves?
Sorry, I thought it was an Amorphophallus. I guess I misunderstood. But it looks like it would be cool in a goth garden. It looks like those worms they used to make the movie Tremors. Definately a goth plant. I'm trying to find seeds to order so we'll see.
Mekos, keep an eye on eBay for Amorphophallus pranii. You can also do a search for it and you'll see

I suggested eBay too except for the save. I would save a search Just for amorphophallus though since some sellers have no idea what the name is or how to spell it. It would be terrible for one to be listed improperly and then due to the narrowed search you missed out. I was fortunate one time to have a friend tell me about a begonia I wanted but didn't want to go any higher in a bidding war for it (that one went over $35 which is a lot for a small start of a begonia). Any way a friend saw the same seller list the same begonia but misspelled begonia to bixonia or something like that. I got it for the initial bid.
Hey, you all is it too early to plant my Aroids seed?
I think they are Seed. Is it too early for bulbs?? I
just don't want to plant them too early. Should I wait for the end of February or March?
Sure do appreciate the help.
You can plant anytime you want, but they won't sprout till it's warm enough. Then you got to make sure it stays warm enough. So if you want them to sprout and get a jump start go ahead and plant just keep inside like I do. Then in spring you can put them outside.
Thank you, girlfriend....
If you've got a really warm place to keep them and a sunny window for them to sit in then it might be okay. Not sure how they would react with the shorter days though. What type of aroids are they?
Now that i looked at it I don't believe it an Aroid. Arisaema Farqesii and I think I see little roots.
maybenot, maybe part of peat. It is in butter compartment of frig, with the insect plants.
RRM, I have that one already up and it has a heart shaped leaf. Quite pretty. I have it in my back bathroom on the space saver in front of a window with bright light. You can go ahead and plant it if you want. Mine has been growing for several weeks and doing great.
Good, Sign be right Friday. Yippeee!!
