ETRU Fall people - we're cutting Brugs NOW

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL!

Ken is out there in the cold, making sure we get a good sampling of all Brugs - just in case Mother Nature slips a harder freeze than expected into our area.

This cold snap is not supposed to last long so I would suggest that any of you who wanted Brug cuttings (or anything else for that matter) come here the week AFTER Thanksgiving or that following weekend. We can send you home with lots of goodies.

mmm do I dare LOL DH might shoot me plus my greenhouse is falling apart so we are working on slowly building a real one instead of the portable one I got 2 yrs ago.

Thanks for the invite Maggi.. how I'd love to come, but you're about a 3 hour drive for me, and right now just isn't the best time for me. I know everyone will go home some very happy campers..LOL... You both are the greatest in sharing!!

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll echo that sentiment! They've given me numerous gingers......and other goodies....Ken even convinced me that I needed a Banana
plant.....(smile)

Maggi, you and Ken gave us so many nice gingers when we met at the RU in Jacksonville. We would love to come over and get a few cuttings of your brugs. We live in between Emory and Sulphur Springs so it is not far of a drive for us. Is there anything you are looking for? We have 3 rooted starts of some blackberry bushes. We got them from a neighbor and she said they are heavy producers. Sending dmail.

Hello,

We are in Fort Worth until Friday, so we will get back to you when we get settled. I am just hoping we do not get a heave frost for a while, there is still too much to do. I would love some Blackberry bushes, or Peach trees, or Blueberry bushes, etc. We are also getting rid of all Cannas.

(Maggi) Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Hahaha - Ken is VERY excited about my decision to remove all the Cannas from the front border and from around the garden shed.

We have some that are named, others that aren't. We have the very tall species cannas in both red and green leaf with small red flowers. We have a medium sized one with nice dark green leaves and a salmon colored flower. We have some Bengal Tiger or equivalent. We have a number of others as well.

We also have tons of root beer plant that needs a home where it can grow wild - I am sorry I ever took this at a swap without researching it first - it is very invasive. But, as Joyce pointed out, it would be great for anyone who has an area of soil that needs to be stabilized - like her creek bank.

It is well worth the trip if anyone can make it. Maggie and Ken were very very good to us! We potted most of the plants up. I was afraid it would hurt them if I put them in the ground with a possible freeze coming this week. They have the cutest little toy chihuahua. You must bring her to the next roundup. I'll be on holding duty.

The root beer plants are terrific for what we need them for. We did go ahead and plant those down by the creek where they can grow leaps and bounds along with the cannas.

My husband who is not into gardening at all was very excited about one thing I brought home. Banana Plants! He picked out the perfect place for them in garden. I have those in pots too. We don't want to lose them.

Ken, the thornless blackberry is Arapaho. I am sending you dmail on the camellias.

Joyce, Poppy says "Thank You" for the jackets! The timing is excellent :~)

For those who haven't met her, I found Poppy in the middle of FM1002 near the intersection with FM1795 (our road). She was apparently dropped there along with a Yorkie - the Yorkie was found by a local dog groomer at the same intersection on the same day.

Her color is purple and she is Ken's dog - LOL!

Poppy is beautiful. Does she keep her clothes on?
My little Chihuahua wiggles out of his, when he gets warm enough.
don't know how anyone can"throw away" a dog or anykind of critter.
Purple is Beautiful for her.

Lucky Poppy.....I'm sure she's already spoiled rotten!

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I trained dog for many years and there are a few things that I will not live with, like licking on the face when we pick her up. All in all she does have a good life, she sleeps under the covers. What is funny, is watching her go for the big guys throat when he gets near the food bowl. LOL

I'm with you.....licking of my face is a no-no.....in fact,....more than one small lick is discouraged. Looks like you got an oversized puppy there, too!
