New cutting's first winter

Fern Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Hello! I have two plumerias, which I grew from a cutting this past spring. These are my first ever plumerias, so I've got a question to ask. The person I bought the cuttings from said not to let the new plants go dormant for their first winter. She said I should bring them in and keep them under grow lights. I live in Florida, so its just now getting into the low 60s, high 50s at night, and some of the leaves on the plumerias are starting to yellow a bit. Does this mean the plant is starting to prepare itself for winter? Is this what I should be keeping it from doing?

Hello, I am not an expert but so enjoy growing my plumerias..
Your plants are going to go dormant. Sorry... I live in Southern California
and what i do is just remove all the leaves and put them in my garage for the winter, usually here from about Dec-March .
They really don't get a lot of light and I do not water them.. Seems very strange
but it works great for me.. I then take them out in the Springtime and start giving
them a little water at a time... They wake up, and I have beautiful flowers until they go to sleep again.
P.S. I have 400 in pots, now u know my obsession haha...

Good luck!

I have two 18 inch rooted cuttings in a HUGE pot with other Plumies and OTHER plants, Plumies still have green leaves.

Thanks for the info. I have 3 one year old seedlings that are still quite green and some others that are cuttings. Some are flowering (plumeria pudica) and an unknown cutting that I got. I'll just let them go dormant and put them in the garage (when I get some space cleaned out.)

Pam gave great advice, there is no need to keep them going all winter unless you want to. It will help the seedlings to flower quicker, but not a must. If it doesn't freeze where you are then you don't even have to put them indoors, they can go dormant outside.
