Ferny like Asclepias ??

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

While i was out walking the pooch in the field... I saw this milkweed fluff with the seeds still attached. I noticed the plant, it was laying on the ground, just a single - thin- stalk.. but it was ferny like.

I've tried googling it, but ferny milkweed did not get me very far.

I was wondering if anyone you knew of a Milkweed that has ferny type foliage?

I had one in my Rose bed over the summer, but dismissed it until now.

I did not photograph what was left of the plant... if an image would help.. i could try to go back and find it.

Thanks in advance...

Did your plants look like this?

thanks frostweed.... it could have been. since both times that i saw the plant, the foliage was already 'dry' .... but it is the closest that i have seen of it. and i never saw any blooms..

My bet is, since i had it in my flower bed this year, it will be there next year too. I wasn't home enough this summer to have taken notice of the one in my Rose bed... plus, it was back by the parsley, so that is probably why i never noticed it until i saw the seed pod open ..... I yanked the whole thing and tossed it in the shield.

I did look into it a bit more and it does seem it is quite common in Illinois... so i'm sure that is it. THanks so much. Now my seeds are not NoIDs.

You are welcome, glad I was able to help.

when i was out futzin' in the flower bed the other day... I saw those ferny plants that i believe are milkweeds, again. Bunch of them this time. Since i am not home most teh summer, I can not recall seeing them bloom... but i do recall teh seed pod.... sorta why i guessed they may be asclepias.
