Recomendation needed for a standard plant/tree for z6

Norwalk, CT(Zone 6b)

I'm tired of hauling my tropical hibiscus standard in and out each year and I'm looking for a hardy standard to go at the entrance to my garden. Jung has a hardy tree rose called Polar Joy (formerly Northern Exposure). Does anyone have any feedback on this? Alternately, is there another sort of hardy standard you can recommend? Thanks! Tamar

I don't have any experience with that. What size are you limited to? Summer blooms?

I'd like a standard about 4-5 feet tall. I'd love blooms, but would forsake them for a great form and foliage.

One possibility is a small crape myrtle. They tend to be shrubbt but can be pruned to a standard form. Fruit trees are another possibility. Many dwarf varieties now.

a tree that size with blooms is tough - you could also get a nice japanese maple that stays that size and give three seasons of color.

A (grafted) weeping cherry can stay small too.
