Today is the Anniversary of Sophie's rescue, look at the difference a year makes!! LOL
Hi Everyone,
I thought I’d post some pictures of Sophie and her niece Patches as Sophia is now one year old! We celebrated her Birthday on Nov. 5th with papaya and oyster crackers, her favorites!!
Well the date we actually found Sophie was Nov. 13, 2008 but the Vet guessed she was just about 8 days old. We went back 8 days which brought us to the 5th and we asked her if that was good. It was, and that is how her B-Day date came to be.
This year has been a learning experience I can say that with certainty! My phone cord was chewed through not ONCE, but THREE times. Luckily she was not electrocuted or suffered any burns. I now have a new phone and my living room has been rearranged.
Too much of a good thing (i.e. papaya, lettuce, blueberries) can give rabbits loose stools and or diarrhea. However, diarrhea can lead to death in baby bunnies within a matter of hours. I learned this and much more on a page I found called “The Mystery of Rabbit Poop” I kid you not. I am now fairly educated in rabbit poop and urine, along with a few other things. ^_^

Sophie Then and Now
Sophia is Brian’s bunny in every sense of the word. She hears his voice and her ears perk right up! She sulks if he doesn’t pay enough attention or talk to her when he comes into the room. She will actually turn and place her back to him if she’s really peed off. I laugh like a fool at this because the big hunter gets all goo-goo talking and spilling over himself with apologies. It can be quite comical at times!!
He just walked by......look at her strain her neck! lol
Now Patches is more mine as I spend a lot of time talking to her even if I’m not in the same room. She hears my voice more than Brian and I make sure to ‘visit’ her at least 4-5 times a day even if it’s only for 5 minutes. When I say ‘visit’, I mean I put the top half of my body in her cage and kiss, hug and coo to her. At first I did this once or twice a day to get her to interact with me, socialize, get used to human contact, ect…. Then she became used to me and looked forward to my ‘visits’ and would greet me at the cage door for a nose rub. She now stomps her foot should I forget to stop and rub noses.
Patches greeting me at the door, nose extended. "Me, me, me, right here"
We leave the small cage doors open to both bunnies when we are at home. They do not try to jump out unless we open the big door with the ramps, then they know they can come out. Very well behaved! The dogs and cat are very well behaved, no mishaps in a year expect maybe when Jake walks by. He’s not a very rabbit friendly dog when he’s on a mission. If he’s got to pee and Sophie is in the path of the door, watch out. He has kicked her in the head by accident once or twice, nothing serious thank goodness!!
None the less, Sophie has learned that if she hears the clicking of his nails on the wood floor……find cover quickly!!!!
Brian took this pic w/his cell, this is Sophie laying in among the dogs, Jake is the one beside her.

Our grocery list has become something of an oddity too, must be close to if not over 50 worth of pet food every week! Now that the garden is done for the year I’m feeling it more.
I buy 2 different types of dry dog food and mix them and then canned food also. The cat eats one pouch of moist food a day and some dry. The rabbits get shredded carrots, green leaf lettuce (Sophie doesn’t like Romaine) and bananas. They also have their pellet food, and a special fruit mix Brian buys them as a treat. They also get blueberries, papaya or some type of fresh or dried fruit every week. Did I say they are spoiled??
Too cute! Its amazing how animals intereact and have their own personalities. Sometimes I wish I was Dr. Dolittle :-)
Great shots! Happy Anniversary!
Wonderful review and update, thank you!
Oh, I'm in love with those bunnies! Sophie is the Alpha, & Patches knows this---thank God! They are so beautiful & well-cared for---you can see what gorgeous fur they have. Yeah, the pet food & treats does add up----my dale wants a chewy every day--the kind that are filled with peanut butter & cost $7---he gets 2 a month!
Thanks all, glad you enjoyed the pictures and updates. I'll have more on soon, need to download them off the camera.
Looking forward to a special Sophie Christmas portrait!
It won't be a group photo of the critters, thats for sure!
Oooh, I'd love to see that!
Sigh...As usual, I'm late to the party! Great story...Happy anniversary Sophie!
Happy Anniversary Sophie! Thanks Pixie for the new pics of the bunbuns. I just want to cuddle and cuddle them!
What a great update, Celeste! Sophie and Patches are just adorable with their expressions and little feet crossed! So cute! Why do dogs and bunnies like laundry baskets so much! Molly loved curling up in the pile of clothes just out of the dryer when I'd throw them on the bed to fold. Bailey and Carli are following Molly's preference for nesting in a soft blanket for naps. Happy Anniversary, Sophie!
is sofie a domestic wabbit or is she an albino wild wabbit
Only to find out there is an AV with the name "Sophie" in it!! Guess what i'll be getting next? lol
Sophie giving Brian kisses. Glad she will....I will on Sunday when he shaves the mountain man face off. ^_^ Thank goodness hunting is almost over......I feel like im married to Grizzly Adams every November!! LOL

Cesleste--Karin is a top notch AV vendor if you want to bid on this...I've ordered from her several times. And I want a leaf after it's grown! LOL

YES! Thats the AV, it's pale/ white like Sophie's white fur and pink eyes!
The 'Patches' one is decribed as having wine colored flowers.
I think that's the lighting--the pics I've seen of this in the past have darker pink flowers and more pink variegation in the leaves--it's a gorgeous plant and grows well' Better grab the Sophie AV! It is a popular one that is still a bit hard to get. The hybridizer is Agnantha Widdell from Sweden. She has some beautiful hybrids and is very popular. I hear tell she's a nice lady as well! LOL!
edited for spelling--gotta learn to proof read BEFORE I post--esp with this wonky mouse!

Celeste - I get such a warm feeling to see how well Sophie and Patches are thriving in your loving home. What lucky wabbits!
P.S. ...Brian - if you want those kisses, it's time to shave that handsome face!! LOL
What a koinkidink that the Miss Sophie AV is white like the Miss Sophie bunbun! I luv Patches AV too! Very prettiful foliage. Methusala is rustling and poofing about 'Mortimer'. Is there a Mortimer AV phoebes? Googleguy knows nothing.
Wow---beautiful violets! My son had a beard growing again, but shaved it off before the surgery---yes!
