Just received an order for Mr Fokker Anemones, and they look tiny and very shriveled. Is this how they should look?? They came from Willow Creek Gardens, so I'd expect them to be ok (though the crocus with the order were already sprouting in the bag), but this late in the year I'm concerned about these being too old. I will attach a pic, if needed. Can anyone tell/show me what they should look like? Thanks
What do Anemones corms look like?
Yup, that's what they look like. I usually plant them in the spring, since they are typically not hardy here. When I plant them in the spring, I soak them for a few hours and they plump up and turn more brown. Not sure that I would soak the for fall planting but perhaps it would help for them to root in. Plant them in groups about 5 together about 2 inches apart
Well, glad to know that--I was going to email WCG and ask. If I didn't know better, I'd throw these away, so thanks!
I soaked my anemones in water a little longer than I was supposed to, like 24 hours. I planted them in the spring, and it was the first year anemones came up for me. Not only were they lovely, but the second blooming has begun in time for Thanksgiving. Who knew?
I have to admit that the corms look like something destined to rot.
