I was surfing the web and came across wisegeek.com - didn't know that geeks dealt in herbs, but they had a neat entry under "tisanes", which they describe as a fancy term for herb tea.
Some of you herb-geeks will already know about these, but for us new-bees.... (oh, and this also comes with the usual 'for health purposes please consult with your physician, don't try this at home or someone could lose an eye, etc." disclaimer):
Tisanes:
* To invigorate: rosemary, rosehip, lemon verbena, peppermint, borage
* To calm: chamomile, lavender, basil, dill, orange peel
* To relieve a sore throat/head cold: elderberries, rosehips, peppermint, sage, cayenne
* To treat a cough: thyme, rose petals, eucalyptus, linden, licorice
* To sooth an upset stomach: ginger, peppermint, lemon balm, chamomile
* To ease a headache: rosemary, willow bark, peppermint

DIY... tisanes
It is a good site and has been there a while, Sheryl...most of those are flavorings for the base herb...but I still think the most relaxing and beneficial part of a tisane is the stroll through the herb garden to harvest the plants...
LOL - spoken like a true gardener. I love the strolling thru the garden part - with a mug of hot tea in my hand!
