Today I lost my closest best friend

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

A rare form of cartilage cancer tumor on his rib became too large and put too much pressure on his heart. I kept questioning myself if I was doing the right thing until the nurse came in and told me his blood pressure was so low they were having trouble preparing. A team of several nurses and 2 doctors peacefully put him down as I talked to him. I'm relieved he isn't suffering and the SPCA hospital were so, so good to Astro and I. I just need to get this off my chest.

When I ordered my Rhodesian Ridgeback 10 years ago, the breeder asked if I'd like to see the puppies so I sat amongst a dozen puppies. They were all running around and then got together to have a nap but one puppy decided to climb onto me and fell asleep on my chest. I looked at the breeder and said, "I guess it's this one." He always patiently waited while I took plant pictures and he was actually an avid fan of ornamental grasses,....well, eating them. We were almost always together and I will dearly miss my constant companion. Who will knock my morning coffee out of my hands with his nose or sit on the front porch stairs beside me and watch the world go by?

He was the best thing that ever happened to me in my little insignificant life. I just wish I could have afforded the surgery to remove the tumor. He definitely won't be forgotten.
