VOC. files to Window Media Player compatible files?

I use a digital voice recorder and would like to upload the files to my computer, but when I ask Windows Media Player to copy or play, it says: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec(?) that was used to compress the file.(btw, these files that I want to upload are VOC., hence the title of this thread).

Any ideas how to convert?
